Overview
Catch Book is a fishing log application developed by The Catch Book. This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles your information. The app has no backend server, requires no user account, and does not transmit your personal data to any third party.
Information We Collect
Catch Book does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers. All data you create within the app — including catch records, trip details, locations, and statistics — is stored exclusively on your device using local iOS storage.
Data You Enter
Any information you choose to log in Catch Book (such as fish species, weights, locations, dates, and notes) is:
- Stored locally on your device only
- Never transmitted to any server or third party
- Never used for advertising, analytics, or profiling
- Accessible only to you
Location Data
If you use the location-logging feature, your GPS coordinates are stored locally on your device only. Catch Book does not transmit your location to any server or third party. Location access is entirely optional — the app is fully usable without it. You can grant or revoke location permission at any time via iOS Settings.
Photos
When you attach photos to catch records, those images are stored within your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit framework. This means your photos are:
- Backed up securely under your own Apple ID
- Subject to Apple's iCloud privacy and security practices
- Never accessible to us or any third party
- Accessible only through your iCloud account
Catch Book accesses your photo library or camera only when you explicitly choose to add a photo to a catch record. The app does not scan, copy, or transmit your photo library in any other way.
Third-Party Services
Catch Book does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. No third-party SDKs that collect user data are included in the app. The only external service used is Apple's CloudKit for iCloud photo storage, which operates under your own Apple ID.
Children's Privacy
Catch Book does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The app contains no advertising, no social features, and no user-generated content visible to others. It is safe for use by all ages.
Data Security
Because all catch data is stored locally on your device, its security is protected by your device's own security features — such as passcode, Face ID, and device encryption. Photos stored via iCloud are protected by Apple's security infrastructure and your Apple ID credentials. We recommend keeping your device software up to date.
Changes to This Policy
If this Privacy Policy changes in a future version of the app, the updated policy will be made available on this page, on the App Store listing, and within the app. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
